The model can be run in 3 modes.

  • I want to prevent the most HIV infections
Let the model determine the most cost-effective combination of interventions based on interventions available to you and your available budget.
  • See all packages regardless of budget
See the effect of a chosen set of interventions. No optimization is performed.
  • Eradicate the epidemic
Learn which combinations of interventions would eradicate the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

Explore the effect of different interventions within an individual strategy or combine a variety of interventions from each strategy by choosing 'Explore all interventions.'

Choose a level of evidence for the data informing the interventions. The level of evidence chosen will limit the available interventions in that strategy to those meeting that level of evidence or stronger.

Grade A Randomized Control Trials
Grade B Strong Observational Evidence
Grade C Observational Evidence
Grade D Educated Opinion

Select the interventions available to you. Click 'Require' if the optimal package must contain that intervention. For each intervention, select a target population.

Baseline: Determines the proportion of the target population who are affected by each intervention.

Optimistic: Determines the proportion of the target population who are affected by each intervention.

Pessimistic: Determines the proportion of the target population who are affected by each intervention.

Reach: Determines the proportion of the target population who are affected by each intervention.

Effectiveness: Allows you to choose an optimistic or pessimistic assumption.
